miami fav #110 / blue heaven

okay, so ‘miami’ is kind of a stretch here considering blue heaven is in key west… but, how amazing is it that we are so close to the magic that is the keys? and more specifically, the magic that is the smell of freshly baked banana bread from blue heaven? ah! blue heaven is my favorite key west staple. i cannot go there without a visit to this adorable place. i always save a time for brunch at blue. and recently, the cutest shops have sprung up nearby - so, if you have to wait for a table, who cares? just go shopping! retail therapy sometimes helps solve an empty, growling stomach. i don’t know why. but it’s true. and i like it. and the wait is worth it anyway. actually, it’s exactly worth a slice of banana bread, blueberry pancakes, coffee and fresh squeezed oj while adorable roosters trot around flirting with you for food all to live music and all outside in what feels like a very eclectic, yet comfortable and simple, back yard - with a full bar. it’s just hard to find any other place like this - so relaxed, such great food, with the smell of just-baked banana bread all around, and cute farm animals to give it just the right amount of country and enough random articles and colors to give it that key-west-margaritaville-feel. a perfect combination if you ask me. and don’t forget to get a loaf of banana bread to go - truly, it’s like taking a little piece of heaven for the road.
