miami favs #100 (drum roll please…) / miami bloggers

miami favs started as soon as my feet touched ground in miami (july 12, 2009 to be exact). not the blog, but the idea. and it originated on the book of faces (a.k.a. facebook). they were short and sweet, and heartfelt. i really love this place. i’m in my element and i couldn’t be happier. i have found my home. i started the favs because i’m a sharer (if you haven’t noticed). but, it helped that they made my dc friends jealous. especially when i would write about being on the beach when they were shivering from the ridiculous amount of snow storms they had last year. suckers. really though, it was always about making people realize how amazing miami is. isn’t it? we live in a tropical paradise, and too many of us take it for granted. we live in a city that never sleeps. we have festivals every weekend. events every night. and seminars every day. the food is spectacular (have you had the lobster grilled cheese sandwich at red light? i always have to ask.). the shopping is stellar. the beach is our front yard. the everglades is the back. besides the usual, there are so many off the beaten path things to do here (as i’ve covered in my ‘itineraries’). trapeze classes. parkour lessons. kite boarding. basically the world is your playground if you live in miami. and i’ve fallen head over heels. as for the blog, i’ve now posted 100 miami favs (!). it seems a bit unreal. i started off with a bang where i posted everyday, and now have gone to about two to three posts per week. i’m happy with that. i had to work on my life/blog balance. and it’s feelin’ good. but, i’d like to dedicate to this 100th post to all of the other miami bloggers. without your support i wouldn’t have felt so welcome in the blogosphere. without your wit i wouldn’t have been so inspired. and without your existence, i’d be fighting to make people love miami all on my own. thanks team miami blogosphere. i heart you.

here are a few of my favs =)

south florida daily blog. rick, you are the king of the south florida blogosphere and i am only a humble servant. thank you for your dedication to us. for making us feel special. and for letting us know when we’re losing our steam. you keep the south florida blogosphere alive. and you do a huge service to all south floridians. and thanks too for keeping politics in the forefront - apparently we need that.

beached miami. jordan and robby, you two rock my world. i am so glad you two are on the scene. thanks for capturing moments in miami culture and sharing them. people need to be reminded about what is available and what they’re missing out on if they don’t take full advantage of all miami has to offer. keep up the amazing work! and please don’t leave.

sex and the beach. maria, you are my girl crush. i adore your wit and thoroughly enjoy your views of miami and sex. thanks for always keeping us entertained with your great explorations.

ipanemic. scott, your photos are amazing. you truly capture the real and beautiful moments in miami - which happen to be just your normal, every day moments. the people, life, the scenery. thanks for sharing what you capture with the world.

miami restaurant power rankings. thanks for being one of the first to put me on your ‘blog roll.’ i didn’t even know what that was until someone told me. and it felt awesome. you, are also awesome.

i heart miami. i heart miami was the first blog i ever read in miami and caroline, the amazing writer/photographer, was the first miami blogger i ever met (!). i call it fate.

adventures in green. i love these ladies.

david knew best. my hipster friend, whom i adore. smart, witty, pretty and literary. a great combo.

the heat lightning. i like reading you.

eater miami. i’m obsessed with miami, good food and all things lesley abravanel. so, this blog is perfect for me.

short order. i kind of love all things miami new times. i can’t help myself.

sweet home hialeah. i love you, so much. you make me LOL ALL the time. and you helped me to truly appreciate all sherbet colored houses.

and i also need to thank miami.com for thinking i’m good enough to contribute some miami itinerary articles every once awhile.

there are so many other greats out there. and ones i adore. i know i’m missing some. i suck like that sometimes. forgive me. however, i know you can find all of them on sfdb’s blog roll. i hope you check them out and support these amazing individuals that are just trying to share some miami love.

love you guys! xoxo, m

p.s. for those of you who always say it’s hard to find ‘intellectual conversation and like-minded people’ in miami, you obviously haven’t met these bloggers. and you’re definitely not attending the cultural events they promote. basically, you’re not looking hard enough. because we’re out there. stop saying it. it’s killing me. and it’s not true. k. that’s all for now. xoxo
