miami fav #106 / gigi

i heard about gigi via [the explosion of pre-opening hype on] twitter and foodie blogs, but wasn’t officially introduced to it until a random first date. the guy didn’t last (he didn’t know who nancy pelosi was (among other things). and no mom, i’m not a dc snob, she was THIRD IN LINE to the presidency and is always on the cover of some magazine, like every newspaper, or on tv (whether that be a spoof or ‘serious’ news coverage). i mean, you’d have to be living in a cave not to know who she is. it’s weird.), but my lust for gigi did. two words: sticky buns. i’d like to stop right here and say if you have not been to gigi yet, just drop whatever you’re doing, grab a friend, and go. like, now. at the very least make lunch or dinner plans immediately. or, go by yourself (i have. i mean, they have sticky buns). and these sticky buns are so ridiculously good. it’s like you’re dreaming. i know they have meat ones, but let me tell you, don’t ignore the shiitake mushroom buns. they may blow your mind. i have no shame showing up solo, with a book, and sitting at the bar. because i know everyone in there understands. you know they all ordered the sticky buns too. oh, and i also highly recommend the caribbean shrimp pad thai and their chocolate chip cookie, preferably with vanilla ice cream on the side. because what’s better than a too-good-to-be-true sticky bun? a too-good-to-be-sticky-bun followed by dessert. duh.
p.s. forgive the lack of photo. i will replace soon. promise.
